Centaurs must buy armor as barding.

 

Hearth Strider: This tribe has more close relations with the races of mankind, and due to their smaller build, are able to integrate easily. They are known to commonly trade with, live, and battle alongside humans and elves. Hearth Strider centaurs that train as Fighters or Paladins commonly wear full plate or other heavy armor.

  • +2 Strength, +2 Dexterity, -2 Intelligence
  • Medium size
  • Quadruped Carrying Capacity
  • Space/Reach: 5 feet/5 feet.
  • A centaur’s base land speed is 40 feet.
  • Low Light Vision
  • Keen Senses: Centaurs gain a +2 bonus to sight- and hearing-based Perception checks.
  • +2 natural armor bonus. This bonus increases by +1 for every 5 character levels.
  • Automatic Languages: Common and Sylvan. Bonus Languages: Elven, Gnome, Gnoll
  • Favored Class: Ranger

 

Oakblood: These centaurs more closely resemble elk than horses, their human foreheads bearing antlers (both sexes). Their culture is more centered around the magical aspects of nature than other tribes.

  • +4 Strength, +2 Wisdom, +2 Constitution, -2 Intelligence
  • Large size. -1 penalty to Armor Class, -1 penalty on attack rolls, -4 penalty on Hide checks, +4 bonus on grapple checks, lifting and carrying limits double those of Medium characters.
  • Quadruped Carrying Capacity
  • Space/Reach: 10 feet/5 feet.
  • A centaur’s base land speed is 50 feet.
  • Low Light Vision
  • Natural Weapon (Antlers) 1d8 damage
  • Keen Senses: Centaurs gain a +2 bonus to sight- and hearing-based Perception checks.
  • +2 natural armor bonus. This bonus increases by +1 for every 5 character levels.
  • Automatic Languages: Sylvan and Elven. Bonus Languages: Common, Gnome.
  • Favored Class: Druid
  • Level adjustment +1
