Demons are spawned from the pure evil of Kal'Nuega, bent towards destruction. The fiends brought into being as a result range from the relatively simple minded Dretch (right) to the powerful Balors. Being pure evil, they have no principles, and so have no consideration for the lives, freedom, or dignity of others. In demon society, the most powerful rule through force and fear. Though weaker demons may serve powerful masters, they are opportunistic and will not shy from a real chance to seize power for themselves and depose their masters. Of course, the powerful also have no compunctions against putting down threats to their rule.

The ultimate goal of the demon race is to exterminate life and destroy the world, and to then return to non-existence themselves.

When demons are killed, they melt into a pool of pure evil which quickly returns to Kal'Nuega.
