Dragons Disappearance

Page history last edited by axcalibar 8 mos ago

Some time after the war in Xeal, dragons the world over gradually vanished. The lairs of the five metallic dragon lords in the Drake Highlands were abandoned. Their sizable hoards were left behind, leaving the theocracy of Morbidia as voluntary stewards. The same was found of the chromatic dragon lords.

Dragons across the land were nowhere to be found, and over time their brood followed. Those with dragon blood made an exodus to some undisclosed location and themselves vanished. The nobles and many soldiers from the Dragon Clan of Anherosh abruptly abandoned Wa. In their abscence, the Viper Clan laid hold of the Dragon Clan lands, adding significantly to Ahrhiman.

Arx Draconium

Somewhere through the plane of Shadow, in a parallel version Heroshi, is a world devastated by war. It is the world that was prevented from coming into being by the Saviors of Heroshi. In that world, the heroes failed to stop Edenova from being drawn into Heroshi. To prevent its destruction, the four primal gods Feal, Aleria, Vilhan, and Gohdas pooled their powers. This act drained their powers, weakening them... and this was the chance Ameadaeus had been waiting for. He killed the four and absorbed their essences, gaining dominion over their spheres of influence. After this, Ameadaeus was unstoppable and could break the laws of the universe at a whim. He slew many other gods who refused to swear fealty to him, including Drand, Lor, and Kaima. His followers, the Daema, organized and swept the world, killing and enslaving the races of man- and beastkind. Ameadaus named this scourged world, Arx Draconium, literally "Will of the Dragon God".

The absolute power attained by Ameadaeus destabilized the universal balance. The remnants of the slain deities cried for retribution. This call was heard by the Azure Dragoness, Cylphied. She ceased her pursuit of Edenova and attended this matter. Justice dictated that as it was a dragon who upset the balance, then it was for dragonkind to restore it. She called to dragons and the dragonblooded across the planes, drawing them to come to Arx Draconium to fulfil their change.

Dragons Exodus

True dragons were able to pass through the plane of Shadow by a ritual that brought on twilight. This process left sizable dragon graveyards with intact skeletons. Those with draconic blood were able to cross over using the Chaos Gate as a connection between the worlds. The dragons that were, for one reason or another, unable to answer the call were eventually driven mad. Dragons who were released from whatever bounds kept them from answering the divine imperative went immediately to join their kin.

The Dragon War

This lore will be revealed in time. In other words... coming soon.

Eastern dragon clan, eh? Sounds like something Zhao Teng could actually use his Know: History on!

Oh wait. He's dead. Crap!

If you recall the few Shadowsnipe conversations about inter-universal travel and saving the world, are there any updates on that? Or did it fizzle in the face of huger story elements? Or is it still a hypothetical ponderance?

It's still in the cards. Just gotta work out the details surrounding the Dragon War and Alt-Lem's involvement.

You going to explain the Chaos Gate anytime soon? Or is it something that I've foolishly forgotten?
