Infamous Foes

Zanzer Tem

A petty tyrant in one universe; a powerful ruler in another (and a small, energetic child in yet another). He lived in a keep a short way from a beleagered town in which he would hire merchants to offer able-bodied, prospective adventurers small jobs which were actually a ruse to lure them to his keep where they would be captured and put to work in the salt mines in his dungeon.

After his defeat, Zanzer's keep was claimed by Keld Magnus. Generations down the line, Zanzer IV of Solanthia inherited his ancestors' Keep. Utilizing (that is, forcing) labor from the nearby villiage Middlegrove, he exploited the salt mine and local lumber resources for financial gain. Castle Magnus was at the epicenter of the cataclysmic blast that destroyed Talonia. He apparently has another keep somewhere in Selene.

Delarin Tem

Zanzer's vengeful brother, a demilich of great power. His power was sealed within his golden right hand with gem embossed knuckles. He created a permanent illusory body to conceal his true nature. He appeared prior to Keld Magnus' wedding, demanding his family's keep be vacated. That they did.

Rhumitar Kransten

A lich cleric of Drand who was initially allied with the ruler of Neyrleth, Lord Garm Ironhand. Somehow Rhumitar ran afoul of him. An order was made for his destruction, but it was left to unaffiliated adventurers so that the church of Drand would not be angered at the city's ruler. He kept an impressive library of book and scrolls, including one of Kaima's blessed books. His tower was seized by those adventurers and was named Burne's Tower of Flaming Deathtraps. He was apparently attempting to gather relics for some unknown purpose, as he had in his possession the Flute of Dyldos and the Rod of Kaima.

Walgnaf Talondar had Rhumitar's body exumed. He had him resurrected and appointed him as prime minister of Talonia. Rhumitar fulfilled his duties well, but behind the back of Lord Talondar he practically seized control of the nation. He came into possession of scrolls that explained the covenant of the Morbidian priesthood. He sought the  immortality granted by extacting the essences of the high priests. He eventually completed the ritual and was rendered invulnerable. The Heroes of Morbidia fired the Divine Cannon which destoyed Talonia, and nullified Rhumitar's invulnerability. He was defeated by the Heroes, but it turned out that Rhumitar was just another pawn in Saberhagen's own vie for power.

Garm Ironhand

Lord of the city-state of Neyrleth, actually an emplacement of the Solanthian Empire. Slain by the hand of Keld Magnus.

Keld Magnus

Captain of Neryleth's guard and later Baron Keld, ruling the lands surrounding Zanzer's Keep. Manipulated the party often and basically stole credit for some of their accomplishments. It turned out that the spear he weilded had a wicked intelligence of its own, and forced him to uphold its goals. Eventually he became able to resist its control and sought the road of redemption, starting by slaying his Lord, Garm Ironhand on the wicked spear. Keld disappered fighting the umbral blot of entropy that embodied the force of decay. A line from the Teslan Prophecy found underneath Xeal indicated: "the one redeemed by evil blood spilled by on evil spear will divide the destroyer, and in such divide himself." The meaning of this is unknown.

Master Baator

A pit fiend who dwelled in the material plane town of Ballywick. He was for some reason determined to possess the flute of Dyldos. We probrably don't want to know.

The Illithilich Orator

...

Rhadmond

A raksasha duelist who directed Delarin's underworld activities. Was slain by a blessed bolt through his heart by Lemnolin Shadowsnipe. Mind you, this was in 3.0, when that was instantly fatal (rather than DR 15/good and piercing).

The Tarasque

An ancient beast unleashed from the womb of the earth through Vilhan's Folly. A magical beast with an orihalcon carapace. Defeated by the monk Chau-Dai... with the help of about a dozen high level wizards. Its preserved head was used as the entrance for Burne's Tower of Flaming Deathtraps for a time. After Chau-Dai was imprisoned, the theurges of Ashenaxe sold the head to traders in the Ethereal Plane. It served as the entrance to an inn in the city of Heptapoth (The Rampaging Tarasque) but was stolen during an attack by slaad. It is unclear if the slaad were responsible for taking it.

Kalahandiran

The Red Dragon Lord, well over 2000 years old.

Captain Stella Celedaine

A Hexblade who led several succesful military operations against Morbidia.

Memorable Allies

Tarocalibrant

A young silver dragon found under the halls of Zanzer Tem's keep. Worked for the adventurers Lemnolin Shadowsnipe, Grok-Nall, and Burn Ashenaxe, protecting their headquarters in exchange for donations to his hoard of wealth.

Alfagaard

A mature adult bronze dragon who assists the Deepseeker Company.

Deepseeker Company

A group of half-bronze-dragon gnomes who explore the seas using their submersible and an Apparatus of Kwalish.

Paynen Theas

A wild elven barbarian, chief of the jungle tribe of the Eladrin Plateau. Eventual bride of Grok-Nall.

Lia Moonwhisper

A wild elf sorcerer. A noble friend and the first cohort of Lemnolin Shadowsnipe. Fought nobly and assisted in numerous adventures. She perished in the devastating acidic breath of a Black Dragon.

Morley the Sly

A tiefling arcane trickster. A cunning assistant to Lemnolin Shadowsnipe. Sub-Captain of the Shadowsnipe Thieve's Guild in (that town). Specialized in throwing his short swords (and grinding, then masterslaying, them).

The Werewolf Prisoner

Freed from the prison of Zanzer Tem. Willing spy of Burn Ashenaxe and later Lemnolin Shadowsnipe. When it was discovered that he had been a double-agent for the enemy, Lemnolin had him slain. The agent who carried out the assasination was Rusty Senisas.

Coalbeard/David Cole

An efreet who was a shah in the plane of fire. He was drawn into another dimension through the shadow plane and in that world he set up a world spanning business empire. When that world went through a worldwide disaster, Cole Enterprises continued to operate in the city of Shadowhold. He was eventually entrapped in an iron flask and sent back through the shadow. His many years of servitude and experiences in the other world caused him to rethink his practices and to adopt a more ecumenical viewpoint when dealing with others, though he still has a chip on his shoulder concerning all forms of servitude. His supposed ally Saberhagen saw to it that he was defeated by the Heroes of Morbidia after he proved too powerful to control.

Naboru and ????

Sagacious Yuan-Ti sisters who work out of the Tannaris Bazaar in Nuegalon and the Ethereal City Heptapoth, respectively. Known for drinking on the job while giving divinations.

The Ferryman

This gaunt figure provides transport between the Ethereal City Heptapoth and the surface of the plane using a magical oar to guide his flying canoe.

Salem Saberhagen

A jet black furred Raksasha. Ran an inn on the elemental plane of Fire, one of the few places in the city hospitable to non-natives. A masterful manipulator, he arranged the circumstances that caused and escalated the Talonian war on Morbidia. He took on the role of a fixer, dealing in aquiring hard to find desirables. His methods of attaining the desired objects included theft, coercion, and murder. He was defeated by the Heroes of Morbidia. His young warlock serving wench, Saberina, took over running the inn.

Aybabtu the Opaline

This two-century old white slaad led an attack on Heptapoth city on the ethereal plane, using a passing meteor as cover. Joined forces with Galib Kadar the marid, and Talak the drider in an effort to oppose Coalbeard, Saberhagen, and their diabolic allies.
