This page is dedicated to both the glorious, shining moments and the $#*^ that went wrong in my games.
First Campaign
Characters: Lem, Burne, Grok, Britack, Chau-dai, Kobort, Jakel, Steiner [Joey's dwarven cleric of Vilhan with the burrowing stronghold]
Era: 2000-2004
Heroshi Year: 2604
Problems:
- Chau-dai / Nathan
- Jakel the Druid - Everyone hated him but ultimately wasn't as much a detriment to the campaign as Chau-dai.
- 3.0 Epic Rules. Really, Twenty level 24 Duergar Fighters hacked down by a level 26 group like goblins by a level 1 party. By all means these guys could've sacked kingdoms. Why were they hangin' around that golem factory? How did they escape infamy? Wouldn't they be feared across the continent? Once you incorperate epic opponents (esp. with PC class levels) the verisimilitude disentigrates.
- Adam used MKD, a dick move. (Thanks Will. -Adam)
- The Tarrasque - killed by Chau-dai. It deserved better.
Bittersweet:
- Possibly unsurpassingly epic. Not sure if I can top this campaign.
Best Moment:
- Allen (the player)'s reaction to Grok-Nall being plane shifted. Since I informed everyone else about the switch discreetly, it really freaked him out when everyone role-played it to the hilt. causing him to question his own sanity.
Second Campaign
Characters: A hell of alot whose names I don't remember because they died so f'n much; Stogen, Brand, Angelina, Villiri, Veter, Riyal
I managed to dredge this list out of my tripod site. It's the death toll for this campaign. Look at the dates! Not a week went by without a PC death! Hot damn I was good! The gap is probrably when we picked up d20 modern for a time, I imagine on account of summer vacation and players scattering. That September 4th game was a bloodbath! Almost a TPK!
- Himliss (Keith) Elf Wizard (?)
- Gilnarsh (Keith) Hobgoblin Fighter (9/4/2004)
- Lorzak (Jeffrey) 1/2 Orc Barbarian (9/4/2004)
- Elnar Allyon (Nathan) Elf Rogue (9/4/2004)
- Gurdock (Clifton) Orc Fighter (9/4/2004)
- Viliri Wind (Jeffrey) Elf Ranger (8/28/2004)
- Sith Landstone (Keith) ... Warmage (8/28/2004)
- ???? (Will) Orc Bear Totem Barbarian (3/27/2004)
- Gurdock (Clifton) Orc Fighter (3/27/2004)
- ???? (James) Halfling Rogue (3/20/2004)
- ???? (Nathan) Orc Samurai (3/20/2004)
- ???? (Nathan) 1/2 Orc Barbarian (3/13/2004)
Era: 2004-2005
Heroshi Year: 1036
The Bad:
- See: Characters. That about says it. Extra high mortality rate due to heavy handed "let the dice fall where they may" policy.
- Also on the subject of characters, there were too many players. By far the largest group I've run. It was up to 7 people on a regular basis.
- Too much PvP. Differences in race and alignment caused too much face stabbing. However, see What Made Up For It, below.
- Jeff playing a chick. It's the beard.
- Nathan / Nathan's Paladin. I can only hear "I smite thee" so many times before murderous urges set in. Also this is the likely point he began cheating, as this one could not be killed.
- Drama. You guys know what I talkin' 'bout.
- The AI Colniel wouldn't shut up about GW, the Patriots, and memes. Bastard.
The Good:
- All the times Nathan/His Character died / Goose killed him.
- Jay's Dwarf. Only present for one game, but his character stood out.
Third Campaign
Characters: Xanograph, Zhao Tang, Lothan, Alistar, Drovin Sparkbeard, Andoran, Talak, Mr. Blackmore
Era: 2007-June 2008
Heroshi Year: 2795
Problems:
- My lack of preparation. I was much more fly by the seat of my pants than ever (and that's saying something).
- Will lives far away =(
- Clifton moved for a really cool sounding job.
- A plot that grew so huge... petered out due to lack of inspiration on how to guide the plot to its epic deneument.
- Again, epic levels are ridiculous. Fizzled around level 21.
The Good:
- Everyone put substantial effort into their characters (and not just in a powergaming sort of way).
- The planar escapades were really interesting.
- Advent of the Dungeon of Battle (mass battle where "rooms" and "corridors" form between the combatants)
Fourth Campaign (current)
Characters: Tila, Achmed, Drell, Orion, Talos, Norm, Grog, [James' Sorcerer]
Era: November 2008 - Present
Heroshi Year: 2795 (Directly after the previous campaign)
Problems:
- James' walls are dull. Seriously, they need some wall scrolls or something. j/k
- Character attrition rate (mostly due to retiring) is making plot difficult to impliment.
