A "kaimaloreum" is an institution like a library where literary, arcane, theological, and artistic studies are conducted. The churches of Kaima and Lor conceived them as a compromise in an effort to make knowledge available while sequestering materials that could be dangerous. Confidintiality rather than censorship is the goal, a blending of the traditions of Lor (transparency) and Kaima's dogma (secrecy). The creed displayed at the entrance to kaimaloreums is "knowledge held in confidence". There is a zone of antimagic inside the walls of a kaimaloreum, and individuals are searched before being allowed to enter or leave. Mind probes are also administered at regular intervals.

The libraries of Xeal and Tespus are such institutions.
