Races of the West: Humans   Elves   Gnomes   Dwarves   Halflings  Ungiant

Common Ungiant Deities: Gohdas (NG), Feal (N), Ameadaeus (NE)

Ungiants are an offshoot of humans of great size, typically 7-8 feet in height. They were the first giants, but there is little to seperate them from humans other than size. They typically band together into tribes which inhabit the outskirts of civilization. They are tought the arts of war and hunting from an early age, as well as a number of arts and crafts such as weaving, beading, woodcarving, painting, and pottery. They are also highly proliffic in agriculture, being able to sow and harvest crops in a fraction of the time it takes smaller folk, and for this reason ungiant goods are highly valued.

Common Classes: Ranger, Druid, Fighter, Cleric

Uncommon Classes: Barbarian, Sorcerer, Bard

Rare Classes: Wizard, Monk, Rogue, Paladin

The following are the qualities of an Ungiant:

  • +4 Strength, +2 Constitution, -2 Dexterity, -2 Charisma: Ungiants are massively muscled, but their bulk sometimes gets in the way when they're trying to be nimble. Their relative isolation from human society creates limited opportunity for social interaction.
  • Medium: As Medium creatures, ungiants have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size. However, see the powerful build ability description below for more details.
  • An Ungiant’s base land speed is 30 feet.
  • Human Blood. Ungiants were once human, and they retain the bonus feat and extra skill points that humans enjoy. They also can be affected by spells and effects which target only humans (such as a ranger's Favored Enemy bonus) or only humanoids (Such as Charm Person),
  • Powerful Build: The physical stature of a ungiant lets him function in many ways as if he were one size category larger. Whenever a ungiant is subject to a size modifier or special size modifier for an opposed check (such as Combat Maneuver checks), the ungiant is treated as one size larger if doing so is advantageous to him. An ungiant is also considered to be one size larger when determining whether a creature's special attacks based on size (such as improved grab or swallow whole) can affect him. A ungiant can use weapons designed for a creature one size larger without penalty. However, his space and reach remain those of a creature of his actual size. The benefits of this racial trait stack with the effects of powers, abilities, and spells that change the subject's size category.
  • Self Discipline: Due to their society, ungiants are taught the value of self-control and temperance. They recieve a +2 bonus to Will Saves.
  • Spell-like Ability: Ungiants with a Wisdom of 13+ can cast enlarge plants 1/day. (as mass enlarge person but only affects plants.) and plant growth 1/day.
  • Weapon and Armor Proficiency: An ungiant is automatically proficient with simple weapons, martial weapons, light and medium armor, and shields.
  • Automatic Languages: Common. Bonus Languages: Giant, Dwarven, Orc, Elven
  • Favored Class: Ranger
  • Level Adjustment: +1
