Virtues
The Rings of Virtue
The Virtues are symbolized by rings because, when worn, a ring shows one face outward (action) and the other is kept inward (discipline). In Anherosh. the Virtues are symbolized by coins branded with the seal of one of the great spirits on each side.
The Key of Virtue is Humility, which is the abcence of Taint. It allows unfettered pursuit of the Virtues. A character that is free from taint qualifies for the greater virtue feats: Activist, Disciple, and Avatar.
The 9 Principles Sacrifice - Willingness to give to benefit another. Fortitude - Willingness to stand for ones beliefs. Perseverance and valor. Honesty - Dedication to the truth. Justice - Dealing with others evenhandedly and render fair judgment. Honor - Dedication to fulfilling ones duties and giving proper respect. Vigilance - The quality of being mindful of and watchful for opportunity to do good. Compassion - Showing mercy, kindness, and forgiveness. Tolerance - Showing understanding toward others without prejudice. Humility - Being unpretentious and modest, putting others before oneself.
The Blades of Sin
The Sins are symbolized by two-edged blades because one edge is toward one's enemy (action) while the other faces one's self (discipline).
Pride is the Lock of Sin, the absence of Virtues, which prevents the growth of Priciples. A character bearing the lock of Pride loses access to any virtue feats. For instance, a person who is tainted by Shame and Sloth embidies the sin of Folly (the absence of Reason).
The 9 Taints Greed - Valuing personal gain above the needs of others. Cowardice - Valuing one's own safety above the needs of others or beliefs. Deception - Twisting or misrepresentation of the truth. Favoritism - Dealing with others in a way only to curry favor or treating some better than others. Shame - Acting in defiance toward legitimate authority and ones charges. Sloth - Ignoring the needs of others, being more concerned with trifles and the material. Cruelty - Showing callousness or enjoyment of others problems. Bigotry - Intolerance of opinions or identities differing from his or her own. Pride - Bearing an arrogant and haughty attitude toward others, thinking them lesser.
