The only known place to learn 6th and 7th level spells and rare 8th and 9th level spells are hidden and well guarded.

During the Node Crisis, the city was overrun by followers of Malhavoc and Soric. Most citizens fled - often to other planes of existence - , only the most powerful mages stayed to defend their city and many died in the attempt, being weakened without their enchanted items. The few survivors gathered their most powerful relics and also fled in order to keep them out of unworthy hands. The city was overrun and scourged, then abandoned by its conquerers. It is said to be haunted and is a forbidden site by order of Ruundal's Emperor. The great bridge that spanned the Rimeflow river was partially destroyed and is a hazardous obstacle to cross. If one made the attempt, it would take a prepared party nearly two days to cross its breadth.

Rumors abound that a group of adventurers has rid Xeal of its taint and have the citys revival set in motion.
