codex

All things have a beginning and an end.

An origin and a terminus.

For either to have any meaning, there must be a span between them.

The beginning and end are moot if there is no journey.

A beginning that ends immediately annihilates itself so utterly that it never existed.

So a conduit is essential in conjunction with the origin and terminus, or the result is destruction.

The codexes are elements based on the formation of Heroshi. In their natural state, they are highly unstable, having potentially world destroying power.

The first manifestation of the codex initium (matter) and codex terminus (time) were used to bore a tunnel through the entire planet. Their destructive capacity is inversely proportional to the amount of space between them, which is why it was later used to attack Kahl-Tarog from above the Azata Plateau. It is extrapolated that if these two codexes were activated in the same place, it would unmake creation. For this reason, codex iternerus (space) was created as a conduit to balance the energies between the other codexes and they were all bound into nodes.

When the seed of Feal was used to regenerate the land in the Freedales region, the seed interacted with the codexes, and grew along the length of the dwarven tunnel between the origin and terminus, to form a great tree at the former sites of the node of matter and time, and also between them as well. These trees were a manifestation of the codexes.
