Yeah... so I posted the Zanzer Tem's Dungeon map on the yogcast forum and got about... oh... yipes. Looks like it currently stands at 666 views! Creepy. No telling how many downloads. Note, that even though the forum sticky post on how to present your map goes into great detail about how to be taken seriously... my map was viewed less than one called "The 14w02C Map" and (for a while) one called "My Map I Made". Amazing.

Anyhoo, a group of familiar with D&D played it, and a couple more people did videos. Recently I decided to get it more exposure by posting it on minecraftmaps.com, where it has surpassed 8000 downloads!

Now there is a flipload of videos on youtube playing through the map, having diverse levels of quality and player comprehension. Here's my current favorite.  While I try to personally thank each and every one who plays it, reagardless of how they react to it, it's just getting to be such a task I don't think I can watch them all. So let me say right here, to those who followed the link from the download page: Thank you!

Oh, and here's a trailer for the sequel, Stonefast!

Happy Gnu Ear! *hic*

So, I finished it.... yes, the Minecraft Zanzer's Dungeon map. It had to be altered slightly (for instance, Axel is completely gone) due to the limitations of the medium (and my own lack of experience as a map maker. As an added bonus, I inserted secret rooms that fill in a backstory for Zanzer (dealing with his serial monogamy, in accord with Dyldos' teachings.) I used some trickery with monster heads and potion effects to create the illusion of more variety of adversaries.

After uploading the trailer, I noticed that there were videos of a group's playthrough of ZTD using an online tabletop program, MapTool. I noticed that the video description mentioned that they met through Minecraft, so I sent one of the group a PM with a link to the map, figuring they'd enjoy it. So they played through it, and apparently ran into some difficulties. Well, drek... goes with the learning process I suppose. Nonetheless, they captured the session and rsmalec plans to review it and upload the video in some form. I don't know whether to be excited or crap my pants.

My commentary and comparison to the original map is here.

Tip for newbie map makers: Assume multiplayer from the beginning! Use @a to teleport the all players, or you risk multiple triggers of command blocks (a cluster-flip). I corrected my mistake and re-uploaded the map... guess we'll see if it was in time (edit: It wasn't... hilarity ensued) or if it was something I didn't think of that snafu'd. (edit: Not really... ZTD is just no match for six players.)

On to Stonefast!
